In fourth grade, Rex got up on stage at his middle school talent show wearing white pants and a sequin-covered shirt—plucked straight out of the 80s—that he’d found at Goodwill. He stepped up to the microphone with as much swagger as an awkward nine-year-old in baggy, twenty-year-old clothing can muster, and he belted out Queen’s We Will Rock You.

And yes, the entire audience stomped their feet along with him.

In high school, his life became consumed by musical theater where he played a slew of curmudgeony middle-aged men who were always angry but only ever for a dumb reason. His favorite was Harry McAfee—the Paul Lynde role—in Bye Bye Birdie, who sings not one, but two songs about how the kids these days (in the 60s) have gone to seed. He was, truly, a pioneer of the modern boomer-hating zeitgeist.

After high school, Rex transitioned into acting on camera. He did an uncountable number of short films in San Francisco before heading three hundred miles south to Los Angeles.

In LA, he booked Artificial, an Emmy-winning interactive series that ran for four seasons. He played JuJu, the awkward but lovable boy next door who befriends an android. Rex also co-wrote episode 14.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck and on-set jobs dried up, Rex added screenwriting to his repertoire. Now an actor, screenwriter, and occasional producer, Rex is taking over the world one movie at a time.
